Perrin - My Speedway

Philippe Perrin, a French artist born in 1964, is above all the meticulous director of a realistic story that challenges the visitor with its obsession to identify the forces governing human life. Faith, violence, love, injustice, drugs. It is never a moral lesson or exemplarity, but a representation of oneself in contact with these forces.

His medium is reality as it presents itself today. To work on it, the artist uses documentary tools: drawings, diagrams, photographs, collection and reproduction of objects, communication, sometimes spectacular theatrical stagings, news items, intimate dramas, rituals of modern life.

Philippe Perrin's work appears to be a long, quiet river. The scenario traces a universe populated by "contemporary relics" from our civilization that is losing its meaning and identity. After the retrospective "Haut et Court" at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris in 2010, followed in 2011 by the exhibition "Under the Gun" at the Musée Maillol in Paris, his work has been presented at the Villa Arson, at the Fondation Maeght 50 artistes, une collection and recently as part of the 11th Havana Biennial in Cuba.
