Silk Roads Black Purple

This original motif was created in Lyon, on the occasion of the 9th Dance Biennale in the year 2000. Throughout a silk thread, different cultures are evoked before being embodied in a Haute Couture dress in Lyon. Chosen as the theme of the biennale, the Silk Roads were an opportunity to discover an Asian continent where dance maintains an intense relationship with religion, spirituality, and philosophy. An ancient network of trade routes between Asia and Europe, linking the city of Chang'an (now Xi'an) in China to the city of Lyon from the ^16th century, the Silk Roads have fascinated the Western world. They are not only the journeys of men but also precious objects along several land and sea routes, motivated by trade, an eternal link between civilizations.
