Jacqueline Roque was Picasso's second and last wife, the ultimate muse of his life. This dark and silent beauty would illuminate his last twenty years. After the turbulence of his studio in Vallauris, Picasso discovered in California, the villa where he moved to Cannes in 1953, a new world of light and calm of which Jacqueline would be the high priestess. Picasso would paint many portraits of his last muse, whose physique reminded him so much of that of the peasant women of Catalonia.
