Chabaud - The Dog dog with the ball

We cannot talk about the French art brut movement without talking about Louis Chabaud (1941-2023). He was one of its pioneers for more than 40 years and he finds his inspiration after his impressionist period. His creation finds little definition according to contemporary aesthetic models, his art lies in the work of matter and color. His metaphors are ingenious because of the juxtaposition of completely incongruous figures and when he adds a text message, one cannot help but laugh, especially his many art collectors! The skill of the forms, the comical semantic associations, the wonderful and joyful colors, such is the spirit of this authentic artist.
