Since their inauguration in 1864 for the Musée des Tissus and 1925 for the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, precious collections have been brought together today in a single museum collection, that of the Musée des Tissus et des Arts Décoratifs. These riches come mainly from a very significant purchasing policy in the 19th century and from donations from major silk houses in Lyon. This pattern, published on the occasion of the museum's centenary, was inspired by a hand-painted silk taffeta from the Louis XV period. It represents interlacing sinuous and flowery stems, flown over by butterflies, in shades of green, red, purple, gray and yellow. It is printed on a sumptuous crepe shaped with a design of flowery branches.
