Born in 1967, Jakè lives and works in Lyon. A graduate of the School of Applied Arts and close to urban culture, Jakè develops a colorful and abundant technique built around a lexicon of symbols with which he tells stories. His work is cheerful, lively, generous, but through this falsely adolescent universe Jakè speaks, tells his vision of the world and society. His working technique is complex and singular. Without drawing, his spontaneous line, never corrected, accumulates up to 5 planes that intertwine and mingle in an astonishing harmony of 14 flat colors never mixed.
Today, Jakè is a well-known and recognized artist in France. His work, on canvas, walls, volumes, and all urban supports, takes on an international dimension. His lively and animated approach to painting joins the technical, symbolic and spontaneous aspects of Street Art. Soyeux Totem concerns an element inherent to his universe – his dog.
This graphic interpretation of the bull terrier that shared my life for 12 years is like a mirror. Through it I see my Lyon roots, my family life, my first successes, my joys, my sorrows, my deep aspirations… it symbolizes what made me, therefore what I am.
