Of course, it is a still life, but "what a still life!" Picasso confided to his intimates. Marie-Thérèse (his mistress for 10 years) is everywhere: her blondness is found in the pastel colors, the erotic in the dynamic tones of orange and purple, the shape of her body in the curved lines, the different parts of which Picasso transposes into fruits and plants. This painting is decidedly anthropomorphic. Most of Picasso's works from these years are based on the fact that he considered Marie-Thérèse, his companion between 1927 and 1935 and the mother of their daughter Maya Ruiz-Picasso, as a person of extreme voluptuousness. Also, all the curves are part of his feelings towards her. His divine creature is only an interlacing of colors and lines.
