The Allée d'Eau or Allée des Marmousets located in the gardens of the Château de Versailles is the junction between the Bassin du Dragon and the Bain des Nymphes. The decoration of this alley is due to Charles Le Brun whose workshop provided the design of seven groups of children in lead which correspond to seven other identical ones placed symmetrically. They are also called marmousets (grotesque figures). In 1688 the decoration of the fountains in bronze cast. All these groups celebrate with joy the triumph of Apollo over Python and lead to the Bassin de la Pyramide, which symbolizes the temple of Delphi. Going up the alley we find: little girls, little boys, hunters, fishermen, satyrs, musicians, dancers, cupids, tritons.
