WE DO NOT SELL LEAVES OR SILKWORMS.
If you want to breed in a class, order eggs only if at the time of hatching (after 2 or 3 weeks of incubation) you already have food:
- mulberry leaves (mulberry season MAY - NOVEMBER)
- or artificial food made from freeze-dried mulberry leaves
Mulberry season is expected to start in END OF APRIL, so you can:
- order a clutch from the beginning or mid-April (when the purchase will be open on this page) and have it sent to you for €6 shipping costs
- or come and collect it from our shop in Vieux Lyon. Constantly monitor the development of the buds on your mulberry tree to predict an estimated date for the availability of the leaves.
Please note that without further details from you, we will take the clutch out of the fridge the day after your order, so it will begin its incubation at that time (it takes between 2 and 3 weeks of incubation at room temperature). You must calculate your order date based on this incubation time and the date you wish to start your breeding.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at contact@brochiersoieriesvieuxlyon.com.
The sine qua non condition for silkworm breeding is to be able to obtain fresh mulberry leaves (the tree, not the bramble).
Mulberry Bombyx eggs hatch at room temperature (about 20°C) after 1 to 3 weeks of incubation, depending on the average storage temperature and the incubation temperature. If during postal delivery they experience a large temperature difference, it is possible that they will already start to hatch in the envelope, which is why it is strongly recommended to wait for the mulberry leaves to appear before ordering, to be ready to feed them immediately.
