Born from Impressionism, the landscapes of Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) are expressed through a play of rhythms, constructions, spots and coloured facets. His work, unique, finds extensions in many currents such as Cubism or certain trends in abstraction. It is generally agreed that Cézanne's work in his last years led painting, at the beginning of the last century, to abstraction, passing through the first steps of Cubism. Cézanne no longer needs a concrete subject: it is the construction of space that constitutes the true subject of the painting.
