Of Czech origin, Mucha is one of the most famous Art Nouveau artists. Passionate about dance, he first worked in a large theatre set design company in Vienna. He then moved to Paris where he created advertising posters and worked for 6 years for Sarah Bernhardt, an experience that contributed greatly to his fame and the dissemination of a well-established style, characterized by great fluidity. This is evidenced by the interlacing that adorns one of his most popular posters here.
In 1897, the Compagnie Française des Chocolats et des Thés, then owner of the Chocolat Idéal brand, had the great idea of entrusting the illustration to Alfons Mucha. This poster, which has become legendary, painted by the artist at the height of his talent, celebrates women, both maternal and sensual.
